TEXAS LEO BLOG FOR  SHARING HELPFUL POLICE MEDIA RELATIONS STRATEGIES, TACTICS & ARTICLES

Royce Wood is accused of shooting a City of Rhome Texas police officer during a traffic stop, Wood escaped and a week-long manhunt was undertaken until Wood was captured. Wood was clearly identified by the officer as the shooter. So why did WFAA word their story to say Wood “… shot at …” the officer, and later state Wood “… injured the officer…”. Why did WFAA not say “ … Wood shot the officer…”? All part of the media bias in the war on cops. Be aware of this when writing press releases about incidents and dealing with follow-up reporter questions. Look for reporters to ask leading questions to better help them shape the story to their agenda. Also monitor what the reporter writes about the incident and if there are untrue statements, or statements you did not make, call-out the reporter. You can also issue a follow-up statement with the correct information and challenge the what the reporter wrote if it is incorrect, or mis-leading. To view the whole story click HERE.

The order in which the incident information is organized plays a key role in providing the public with raw caller information about the violence occurring at the scene. Providing the caller information for the public creates a solid foundation for public support for the use of force tactics used by officers to stop the threat and save lives, which is seen later in the dash cam and body cam videos.

In the ongoing effort to make cops look bad the cop-watchers continue to do their part in creating fake news. In this video they were filming at the Tarrant County (Fort Worth TX) Sheriff's Office North Patrol Division station, from outside the secure area. The video was taken on a Saturday evening when the only employees at the location were patrol personnel and the location was not open to the public. Also, there are no handicap persons working at this location. In addition, the parking lot is a secure area which is not open to the public. The cop-watchers filmed a patrol sergeant back-up his Tahoe to the rear door of the station to unload gear bags. Handicap parking spaces are adjacent to the rear entry door area. What the cop-watcher edited out of the video was when the sergeant finished unload the Tahoe he immediately came out and moved it to the front of the building. More fake-news ....
